Mountain Rambler Brewery. Tasty session and good flatbreads, fish tacos, and a surprisingly delicious squash empanada!

It was a pretty warm day at Mono, so we didn’t want to push the little guy too hard in the heat. South Tufa was a short hike to some pretty salty water. The chemistry that built up the Tufas is pretty amazing and you can see how the lake’s brine shrimp and crazily adapted alkali flies form a massive feeding ground for a huge number of birds.
We did a short walk through Twin Lakes which looks like a great campground with both dry and hook up sites. The dry sites have a _ton_ of space and are spread really far apart through the pine forest. We’ll definitely want to stay there if we make it back up this way.
On the way back towards our current pad at Bridgeport we went off-road for a couple of miles to get to Travertine hot springs which are a bunch of hot springs just spread throughout an open area. We walked in for 10 minutes and fond a great spot to soak in some pretty hot water.
A great way to relax and sock in the view right from the pocket we were in.
